I bought the lens as a walk round do it all lens for my A7rIVA and A7rIIIA bodies and in most cases it fulfils it’s role. It’s nice to have the slightly wider angle for landscapes and the ability to give that telephoto range for when required., making it extremely versatile. The zooming action is reassuringly smooth and tight, eliminating lens creep and the size is relatively compact to carry around, but inevitably the lens is quite heavy, but reassuringly sturdy. Whilst inevitably not quite as sharp as separate 24-70 mm and 70 -200 mm lenses, the difference is only visible when zooming in very close and doesn’t stop me leaving the other 2 zoom lenses in the camera bag when I need to travel relatively light and compactness is required. Focusing is quick and lock is quick and accurate and stabilisation works well. The supplied lens hood is reversible for transportation. I would recommend this lens to anyone wanting a versatile one lens for most situations option

I bought this lens at expensive price assuming Sony lens reputation is excellent. However this lens falls far short of my expectations. Firstly the focusing ability is not quick. I need to constantly zoom out and then zoom in slowly for live action shots. By this time the special event was missed. Secondly, the zoom at full zoom 240mm results in pixels which are slightly blurry and not pixel sharp. This occurs even when I’m shooting 20 ft away and for objects 300 ft away. For a lens that costs four figures I expected much better. Lastly this lens doesn’t have a AF/MF (manual focus) switch. It’s too late for me to return the product to seller. Wish Sony had some firmware upgrade or customer return policy.

Fotografiere üblicherweise nicht mit Weitbereich-Zoom Objektiven. Hab mir das Objektiv für Ausflüge/Urlaub gekauft wenn Fotografieren nicht im Mittelpunkt steht und man nicht mehrere Objektive mitschleppen möchte. Von der optischen Qualität des Objektivs bin ich sehr angenehm überrascht, hier ist über den gesamten Bereich ein sehr gute Abbildungsleistung mit nur geringer Randunschärfe gegeben. Auch der Autofokus funktionier recht schnell und zuverlässig. Die Bildstabilisierung ist ebenfalls ok, hier gibt es allerdings Besseres. Da man so ein Objektiv nicht mit einer Festbrennweite vergleichen darf auf jeden fall empfehlenswert und volle Punktzahl.

I bought this lens as an all around upgrade for my kit lens on a A6000. Fast forward a few years, this lens is my all around workhorse. Wide enough for landscape, crisp for portraits, and great clarity for those must capture moments from across the room at events. It’s now married to an A7rIII and for the price, I couldn’t be happier with this setup.

parfaitement adapté pour les voyages

acheté en décembre 2019, combiné avec mon Alpha7 ILCE-7M2, c'est la combinaison parfaite pour les voyages. Quand le poids est limité, c'est le seul objectif que j'emmène. du grand angle pour les prises de vue d'architecture, cathédrales, palais, villas, au Zoom 240mm pour accrocher les détails des bâtiments ou les animaux sauvages. Venise, Lisbonne, Rotterdam, Sydney, il m'a accompagné pour capturer des souvenirs de qualité. Je l'utilise aussi en photo sportive, course à pied ou compétition de char à voile, sa polyvalence permet de capturer les événements rapprochés ou plus lointain, sur les compétitions il est fréquent d'être limité en déplacement, de plus un changement d'objectif ne permettrait pas de réagir. Après avoir subi des conditions climatiques extremes (pour un objectif), sable et pluie intense, les micro rayures et les poussières ont dégradé la qualité de l'image. je le conserve désormais pour les photos sportives, la qualité est suffisante pour les sites webs sur lesquels je publie les photos. Par contre j'ai racheté le même objectif pour capturer les souvenirs de voyage avec la qualité optimale, prochain voyage au Vietnam. Pour les souvenirs de voyage, il m'arrive souvent d'extraire une partie de la photo et donc de zoomer, ce qui rend les défauts du premier objectif plus visible. Ce produit est excellent pour l'usage que j'en fais, si j'avais un seul souhait pour l'améliorer ce serait le poids (780g). Il est plus lourd pour que mon Alpha7 (558g). Les memes fonctionnalités dans un objectif pesant 350/400g serait vraiment l'idéal. Mais il faudrait une autre technologie, le poids de l'objectif est lié pour beaucoup au poids des lentilles. Le bloc avant à lui seul est probablement responsable de la moitié du poids pour avoir démonté l'objectif afin de le dépoussiérer (sable) et le faire sécher (pluie intense). Le poids total bloc+objectif se fait sentir autour du cou après une journée de visites, ballades ou randonnée.

Achat de cet objectif avec un A7 III ppur débuter sur plein format. Je l'ai choisie pour sa polyvalence vraiment appréciable. Cependant il n'est pas bon partout. Le piqué n'est pas égal sur toute l'image. Je trouve également du vignettage sur certaines photos. Cela me convient pour débuter mais je compte changer d'objectif dans les 2 ans.

J'ai acheté cet article car il s'agit de l'un des seuls "objectifs à tout faire". Ses concurrents éventuels ne couvrent pas la focale 24 mm, même s'ils vont parfois un peu plus loin du côté télé, ce qui est en revanche facile à compenser par un petit recadrage. Ce serait formidable de nous en sortir une version affutée pour les boîtiers haute définition.

Sehr gutes scharfes Allrounder Objektiv , ziemlich schwer und bei 24mm auf der linken Seite starke Verzeichnung trüben das ganze etwas. Trotzdem ist es im Vollformat als Reiseobjektiv zu empfehlen.

I had been looking for a super-zoom lens for a while mostly for the convenience of only having to carry the one lens and not having to stop and change lenses. This one is perfect for that. The range it offers is fantastic, plenty wide enough for most landscape shots and able to zoom right in for things in the distance as well. I don’t think there is anything else available for Sony full frame cameras with a wider range. While looking around I read a lot of reviews and was a bit concerned that some of them weren’t impressed with the image quality, but I haven’t found any problems. I do have some prime lenses that are sharper, but I find this one is plenty sharp enough for most normal situations and can even make some pleasant out of focus backgrounds when zoomed in. The auto focus also seems to work quickly and actually making the lens easy to use. The fact that the lens folds down when zoomed out helps to make it easier to carry, though it is a little on the heavy side.

Bought secondhand as an ideal travel lens. A reasonable size, not too heavy and good feel on an A7RV body. I'm a little disappointed with the image quality though. Having come from Nikon mirrorless, their 24-200 has much better image quality. Perhaps this lens is in need of a refresh.

No other lens needed

Although this new one is heavier it means I rarely need to also take my 55-210mm lens with me when I go out as I now have this one lens covering the range of the other two. Dieses Allroundobjektiv verwende ich derzeit an einer Sony A7 III gesucht. Man muss sich natürlich darüber im Klaren sein: es ist ein Kompromiss. Aber es erfüllt seinen Zweck. Es bietet eine durchaus passable Abbildungsleistung an der A7 III, naturgemäß natürlich im mittleren Zoombereich sogar meist sehr gut. Man bekommt hohe Flexibilität dank echtem Weitwinkel und 10x Zoom. Der AF an der A7 III geht flott und zuverlässig. Der Zoomring geht angenehm straff und es gibt kein ungewolltes Ausfahren des Tubus beim Tragen der Kamera ("Zoom Creep.") Die Größe und das Gewicht sind noch akzeptabel. Die Lichtstärke ist dank exzellenter high ISO verkraftbar. Leider befindet sich kein MF/AF- Schalter am Objektiv. Als Reiseobjektiv (also immer dabei) kann ich es empfehlen; dass beim Portraitshooting usw. natürlich Festbrennweiten wie 85 mm/f:1.8 oder 1.4 zum Einsatz kommen, dürfte klar sein. Für Urlaube ist das 24-240 jedenfalls wie gemacht: kaum zusätzliche Schlepperei mit Wechselobjektiven und vor allem auch kein unnötiger Staub auf dem Sensor mehr. Systemimmanent sind das Gewicht und eben die grundsätzlichen Kompromisse eines Superzooms. Wer das akzeptieren kann, macht einen guten Kauf.

Ich bin kein Freund von Super-Zooms. Aber wenn man mal nur mit einem objektiv unterwegs sein will muss man Kompromisse eingehen. Bin aber positiv überrascht worden. Zufriedenstellende Bildqualität in allen Belangen trotz super-zoom.

Ich habe mir dieses Superzoom für Städtereisen mit kleinem Gepäck gekauft. Das ein 10x Zoom nicht mit Festbrennweiten oder Std. Zooms vergleichbar ist, sollte jedem bewusst sein. Ich bin nicht begeistert, aber vollkommen zufrieden. Auch Video klappt ohne Probleme. Ich habe den direkten Vergleich mit dem Tamron 28-200. Die Gründe, warum ich das Sony behalte sind die Farbwiedergabe und das Plus an Weitwinkel.

I wanted a lens that covered a wide focal range, the FE 24-240mm does just that, it’s the right size and weight and compliments my A7 IV body perfectly. The operator is smooth, fast and pin sharp. My first outing was outside shooting at the longest focal range in overcast conditions, this did not phase the lens at all, the photo results have been excellent. This lens is competitively price, and is worth every penny. A great Sony lens.

Habe mir erheblich mehr erwartet. Bisher bin ich Nikonnutzer gewesen. Auch wenn diese Sorte Objektiv sehr umstritten ist, so stellt sie in vielen Situationen doch einen tragbaren Kompromiss dar. Habe an der Nikon ein 28-300 Zoom verwendet, bei welchem die Bildqualität, insbesondere die Schärfe, um einiges besser war. Von daher bekommt dieses Produkt von mir maximal drei Sterne.

Recht schwer ist es, das Objektiv. Auch von der Schärfer her, insbesondere am Rand, habe ich schon wesentlich besseres gesehen. Aber bei Cashback und im Sonderangebot um die 200 € gespart, daher angesichts des Preises an der Schwelle zwischen "befriedigend" bis "gut".

Ideales Reise-Zoom

Ich benötigte eine neue Allround-Linse für Urlaub und weitere Aktivitäten. Dabei möchte ich nur einen Fotoapparat und eine einzige Optik mitzunehmen und den Fotorucksack daheim lassen. Beste Erfahrungen hatte ich mit der Kombination Sony SELP18200 und Sony Alpha 6500 - daran wollte ich anknüpfen. Für minimalstes Gewicht würde ich auch die Kit-Linse SEL2860 empfehlen, die ultrascharfe Ergebnisse liefert und mit einem flüsterleisen AF ausgestattet ist. Damit fotografiert allerdings schon meine Frau mit einer Sony Alpha 7. Die Kombination jedoch aus 24 mm Mindest- und 240 mm Maximalbrennweite erachte ich bei dem SEL24240 einfach als genial. Vor allem der 24-mm-Weitwinkel ist für mich äußerst nützlich. Dieser lässt auch weit entfernte Objekte nicht zu winzig erscheinen und deckt einen sehr großen Aufnahmewinkel ab. Die chromatischen Aberrationen sind in meinen Augen sehr gut korrigiert und stehen besten Einzelbrennweiten, wie z. B. dem Sony SAL24F20Z nur wenig nach, wobei es unfair wäre, Optiken mit einer nur einer Brennweite mit einem Zoom zu vergleichen. Gekauft habe ich die Linse im Fotofachgeschäft mit Online-Präsenz als Gebrauchtware mit starken Abnutzungsspuren, die allerdings nur an der Streulichtblende sichtbar sind. Auch diese ist stabil konstruiert und wird weitere Exkursionen ganz bestimmt überstehen. Trotz des Gewichts liegt die Linse sehr gut in der Hand und sieht einfach wertig aus. Für schnellste Autofokusgeschwindigkeit empfehle ich die neueren Kameras, z. B. die Sony Alpha 7C. An der Sony Alpha 7 (1. Generation) ist der AF etwas langsamer. Der eingebaute Verwacklungsschutz (OSS) unterstützt die Kamera dabei, scharfe Bilder bzw. Videos herzustellen, das ist sehr hilfreich, denn gerade ältere Kamera-Modelle besitzen keinen eingebauten Stabilisator. Persönlich hat mir auch der flüsterleise AF gefallen und die kurze Reaktionszeit. Die kontrastreichen, scharfen Bilder haben mich ebenfalls überzeugt. Alles in allem habe ich ein preisgünstiges Allround-Paket erstanden, das einfach Freude macht.

Good versatile travel lens regarding price weight quality and form factor. As a professional this lens helps me to progress and to figure out what I really need most. I’m expecting to replace it by the Sony 24 to 105 f4 lighter and brighter as I need to cover night concerts. Due to lens technologies updates I really dream to see one day “a 24 to 240 constant f.4 G OSS” with the same form factor, and/or “a 24 to 105 constant f2.8 GM OSS” …, we will see whats come next !

Kann damit echt alles machen. Wenn man schnell zwischen Brennweiten wechseln muss ist das 24-240 super. Das objektiv ist es auf jeden Fall wert. Klar, Brennweiten sind besser/Lichtstärker. Aber mit diesem Allrounder kann man wirklich alles machen.

I ummed and erred for a long while before buying this lens. I read many not so good reviews, in the end the incredible versatility was what pursueded me. I can carry one lens and cover a huge range of focal lengths, no swapping lenses at awkward moments or in difficult places - it allows me to concentrate on the task at hand, taking photos. The picture quality for an oppertunistic photographer is very good, more than acceptable. If you have the intent of "setting up" a photo, this is not your lenses, but if you you are out walking and want the option to take any photo, it is brilliant.

This is a great 'all-in-one' lens which takes great pix. However, there are two 'faults' (ignoring the fact that it is expensive!). They are: i) Weight - this is a heavy lens. On my A7II the combination is pretty hefty. I might point out that I am big bloke, so this is not such an issue, but for someone of lighter stature this MAY prove to be a problem; ii) On my example, the zoom ring rubber is a horrible mottled grey/black colour combination, looks almost like it is perished. The rear ring is pure black (as you would expect). I'm still considering a warranty repair claim - I presume this is a one-off occurence. This was NOT a grey import, but sourced new from a major UK retailer. A lovely lens, then, but may not be suited to everybody. If you don't mind the weight, the other issue may not bother you, in which case I would recommend it.

Tolles Objektiv, aber schnell ein Totalschaden

Das Objektiv ist bei mir ein Jahr alt geworden. Dann ist es über die Sofakante gerutscht und aus etwa 40cm Höhe auf den Teppich gefallen. Dabei wurde ein hauchdünner Ring des Gehäuses herausgedrückt, so dass der Objektivkörper danach im Gehäuse hin und her rutschte. Reparaturkosten entsprechen dem Neupreis, also Totalschaden.

Good quality, but zoom ring is too tight

The product is great in terms of versatility, giving an excellent range from wide to telephoto. For the 6000 series this represents an effective 36-360mm. The build quality of the lens is very good and feels pretty robust, with the only downside being the zoom ring. It is so tight, that when you change direction of turn the lens will move slightly on the mount. I have tried other copies of the lens and this was consistent across multiple lenses. For me this was a deal breaker as I found the effort required to adjust zoom was causing camera shake, particularly when zoomed in to the 200-240 mm range. I would advise trying this at a retail store to make sure you are OK with the zoom ring before purchase. Image quality is very good, though there is some loss of sharpness particularly in the corners at both ends of the zoom range. Overall a good lens, if you are OK with the stiff zoom ring.

Da die Anzahl der verfügbaren und für mich bezahlbaren Objektiven von Weitwinkel bis Tele für die Sony A7 sehr überschaubar ist, habe ich mich für dieses entschieden. Pro: großer Zoombereich, kompaktes Objektiv, besser als ständig 2 Objektiv rumzuschleppen und zu wechseln Contra: schon recht schwer, leichtes Verzeichnen am Rand, eingeschränkter Blendenbereich Ausführliche Tests und Beschreibungen findet man im Internet. Fazit - ja, ich würde es wieder kaufen
