There are two things that are lacking. One is lack of a port for the Sony off camera flash cable. Also no one makes a simple off camera MIS flash cable. MIS has the worse support of any dedicated hot shoe by the oem or third party. This is a major weakness of MIS.

Nice item but design flaws

Does the job really well and very handy way of tilting the head without pressing buttons. However I have no faith in the plastic foot, and despise with my whole being the multi-interface terminals that are basically just bare wire and will almost certainly become damaged - for that reason I could never us it professionally. As it happens this is just for personal work so I can be really slooooooow and careful at putting the guard on and protecting the foot from damage

Der Blitz passt optimal auf die Kamera DSC-HX400V. Die Einstellungen werden zwischen der Kamera und dem Blitz, dank integr. Datenbus, gut synchronisiert. Leider ist in vielen öffentlichen Gebäuden die Verwendung eines Blitzes nicht erlaubt. Deshalb hatte ich diesen Blitz in den letzten 4 Jahren kaum genutzt.

This flash does a fantastic job. I've used it to do a wedding, and various other tasks. Unfortunately it fail short when I had to photograph an evening party. The focus assist lamp will not work for mirrorless cameras. After a bit of research, the way it needs to focus, the lamp is not compatible with focus assist. This goes for all mirrorless cameras. This was such a big let down, so I had to rely on manual focusing. The in body focus asisst lamp was no good, not really up to the task. The other thing I noticed, I could not use a second flash gun with this Sony flash. If you want to use off camera flash. To trigger other flash guns I have had in the past, it would detect a flash from the camera or other flash gun, then trigger itself. This Sony flash cannot be triggered by another flash. This was also annoying, as I have a third party flash, cheaper as well, that can be triggered by flash as a remote. Why can't this flash be triggered from the pop up flash? When cheaper alternatives can.

Auch wenn ich den Blitz erst einen Monat besitze, lässt sich jetzt schon sagen, dass die Verarbeitung sehr gut ist. Die Master/Slave Funktion und der schwenkbare Kopf sind super. Für meinen Anwendungsbereich reicht die Leistung des Geräts aus Meine Bedenken zur Instabilität des Blitzes durch benutzen des Multi Interfaceschuh haben sich in Luft aufgelöst. Um ein abschließendes Urteil fällen zu können, muss ich mich mit dem Blitz noch intensiver befassen.

Having purchased a Sony Alpha 9 MkII I found only limited connectivity with my existing Metz flash units and consequently purchased the HVL F43M flash unit. As soon as the camera and flash were connected (an extremely simple locking mechanism makes it easy to mount and dismount) the pair worked as one fully integrated unit. For domestic photography the F43M is more than powerful enough for bounce flash and the swivel options make this suitable for landscape and portrait options. So far a perfect match! My one reservation, and hence "only" 4 stars is that I have been unable to configure the flash to be remotely fired by another (non-Sony) flash gun. It may be that I just haven't understood how to achieve this, in which case I will fully retract this crtitiscism, but this is a problem for me. Other than this I am delighted with the flashgun andcertainly recommend it.

Bought this to use with recently acquired A7S. Did quick test, straight out of the box with bounce flash and the results using TTL metering, were extremely accurate/faultless, colour was spot on/natural. Whilst the A7S is obviously extremely capable in low-light, there are obviously instances when to use flash. Put this flash on and the files simply 'pop'.

I bought this flash about 6 months ago and recently used it on a professional shoot in the woods with a crew of 6 people and two wolves. It caused me a lot of embarrassment as I had to apologize for the flash for overheating. We got maybe 15-20 shots using it as a fill flash with an umbrella modifier off-camera before it stopped working. Very frustrating when you have a crew waiting on your flash to become usable again. Basically, we ditched the flash and had to shoot with reflectors. Not happy.

leider ist der Fuss, der in den Blitzschuh der Kamera - Sony a 6000 - greift nicht sehr stabil und bricht schnell ab. Die Folge war eine teure Reparatur, die das Blitzgerät bei aller guten Funktionalität schnell zur Kostenfalle werden lässt. Schade bei diesem ansonsten gut durchdachten Gerät, es ist daher für den Profibereich weniger geeignet.

I bought this a month ago when I switched systems from Nikon to Sony to go with my new A7R2. The first time I used it for a job it wasn't recognised by the A7R2 so I used it with my older A7. After about half an hour, of not continuous use, it over heated and kept overheating for the rest of the evening - making shooting impossible until it had cooled down enough. I never had this problem over many years of using my Nikon flash with my Nikon camera so hadn't even thought this might be an issue. Disappointed, sadly.

Excellent flash, pour le prix on en espère pas moins, cependant je ne pense pas le recommander, car il n'est pas pleinement compatible avec mon A7M2 ; le simple fait que la diode d'autofocus du flash ne puisse pas être fonctionnelle et supplanter la diode de l'appareil est un frein à son achat. En effet La diode de l'appareil est rapidement occultée par les objectifs imposant (85mm g master ?). D'où l'avantage d'un flash pour sa diode d'autofocus déportée. Gros point négatif donc de ce flash pour ma part, et est-il possible qu'une MAJ firmware boitier/flash puisse résoudre ce problème ? Je l'espère.

Noch kann ich es nicht beurteilen, ich muß erst die Tauglichkeit im Slavebetrieb einschätzen. Das gesamte indirekte Blitzsystem mit Master und Slaves bedarf der Optimierung. Ich bin der Hoffnung, daß sich meine Blitze HVL-F32M, HVL-F43M HVL-F60M in das angekjü+ndigte Steuerungssystem einbinden lassen.

I wasn't sure what to get but the Sony f43m seemed to fit the photography I wanted to do, portraits etc. Ok, so The only down side is that you can't use it wirelessly right away with out another flash but you can always get a commander stick to do that as it not always everyone's cup of tea. over all it's been amazing and the things I've done with it have made my pictures that fraction better and more professional. Thanks Sony

Zuverlässig arbeitender Systemblitz mit einer für die aller meisten Anwendungsbereiche ausreichend hohen Leistung. Der Sony F43M ist gut verarbeitet, hat alle wesentlichen Funktionen, die man in der Praxis benötigt und lässt sich ohne lange Einarbeitung sicher bedienen. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist die Eigenart des Geräts, den Blitzkopf nur zu den Seiten rechts und links hin schwenken aber nicht verdrehen zu können. Die Möglichkeit, den Blitz z. B. schräg nach hinten auszurichten und so seitliche Reflexionsflächen leicht hinter dem Fotografen zu nutzen, gibt es nicht. Ob und in wie weit dass in der Praxis zu Einschränkungen führt, kann ich noch nicht abschließen beurteilen. Als Käufer sollte man es aber wissen.

Ich habe diesen Blitz an meiner A6000 im Einsatz und bin nahezu restlos zufrieden. Die Bilder sind sehr gut belichtet, Kamera und Blitz passen hervorragend zusammen. Einziges kleines Manko: bei Serienaufnahmen könnte der Blitz etwas länger durchhalten als 2 oder 3 Bilder. Aber: vielleicht habe ich noch nicht alle Einstellmöglichkeiten in der kombination entdeckt!

Der Blitz "kann" mehr, als der Bedienungsanleitung zu entnehmen ist. Zusammen mit dem Sony Alpha 7 Handbuch und eingehenden Trockenübungen, war er gut zu nutzen. Schwierig ist es, die kleinen Schieber der diversen Schuhe sicher zu verstauen und die "Verriegelung" an dem Kamerabody ist nicht sicher festzustellen. Glücklicherweise vorgewarnt ist letztlich nichts verlorengegangen, aber in vier Stunden doch mehrmals fast. Die mitgelieferte Kunstledertasche ist sehr knapp beschnitten, Ersatzackus und der Fuß, den Blitz extern aufzustellen waren darin nicht unterzubringen. Die Bedienungsanleitung mag vielleicht alles enthalten, im Ernstfall war das, wonach ich suchte aber nicht aufzufinden, da gibt es noch Luft nach oben. Ich halte auch mehr davon, die einzelnen Sprachen getrennt mitführen zu können und noch besser wäre es, wenn die Bedienungsanleitung einen Kommentarstreifen für eigene Bemerkungen und Hinweise böte. Bei technologisch so anspruchsvollen Geräten sollte möglich sein, die wichtigen Passagen zusammenzustellen und im Smartphone zum Nachschlagen mitführen zu können. Es fehltdie Möglichkeit, Einstellungen zu Gruppieren und dann dem Einsatz entsprechend als "Gruppeneinstellung" aus einem Speicher aufzurufen. etwa beim Umsetzen der Kamera von Hoch- auf Querformat. Dabei ist die "Verriegelung" des Blitzes regelmäßig überfordert.

Ein toller Blitz, keine Frage. Hohe Leistung, relativ geringe Größe, und äußerst flexibel einzusetzen. Aber leider auch: Sony bewirbt den Blitz als "voll kompatibel" zur Cybershot DSC RX100 MK2. Trotzdem funktioniert im Zusammenspiel mit dieser Kamera das AF-Hilfslicht am Blitz nicht. Schade.

Der Blitz ist sehr gut auf die Sony ILCA 77 M2 abgestimmt. Sowohl die Einstellungen an der Kamera als am Blitz werden sofort ohne Probleme übernommen. Dies funktioniert deutlich besser als bei Fremdherstellern.

Ich nutze den Blitz vor Allem an meinen NEX und Alpha 6000 Kameras und bin sehr angetan von der flexiblen Funktionalität (z.B. beim indirekten Blitzen), der perfekten Kompatibilität zu den Kameras und der Leistung. Die Blitzleistung reicht für meine Zwecke völlig aus, da ich ohnehin eher ein Freund des indirekten Blitzens bzw. dann auch der Available Light Fotografie bin.

Benutze den Blitz fast nur im Automatikmodus, da ich kaum Erfahrung mit Blitzgeräten habe. Der Blitz macht was er soll. Bilder werden besser ausgeleuchtet und auch bei schlechten Lichtverhältnisse werden die Bilder scharf.

I am so disappointed in Sony's poor commitment to quality education on this product. Nothing but a quick video showing what is may do but not how to do it. The manual is write for someone with perfect vision and fall very short. There are no tutorials on the support page. I hope for more from Sony and hope they will read this and learn. I as a customer don't want another fancy "pro" photographer showing I could do I want clear instructions on how to use it. Again the product seems well built but it is a big fail in useful instruction on how to use it. - Disappointed Sony Customer.

Great for wireless

I bought the F43M flash mainly for wireless HSS (high speed sync) so I can photograph at higher shutter speeds outdoors whilst still retaining/combating natural light. Mainly used with my portable softbox and beauty dish and so far the F43M hasn't let me down. It kicks out enough power for my usage, although if you require something more powerfull I would have to recommend the F60. The unit is very simple to use with a generous sized LCD screen on the back displaying all the info. To access HSS, you just need to change your shutter speed above 1/250th (depending on your camera sync speed) and the flash will automatically turn on HSS which is very handy. The quick shift bounce is quite an intuitive design and makes it easier to get the flash positioned. Definitely recomended for those who want a wireless setup with some excellent features

Habe im voraus zu meinen Geburtstag den ich am 20.11 habe dies Blitzlicht von meiner Gattin bekommen. Es ist ein super Gerät und habe schon sehr viel Fotos gemacht. Die Fotos sind wie von einem Profi, astrein und sehr leicht zu bedienen. Dieses Gerät ist nur weiter zu empfehlen.

C'est un très bon flash pour un usage occasionnel et qui me satisfait pleinement. Je trouve l'idée de la led devant très pertinent pour des vidéos et/ou pour faire les mise au point. La performance est excellente pour une utilisation intérieur et bonne à l'extérieur sur un groupe restreint (5-8 personnes max) et distance max 7-8 mètres.

Great Flash when it works

The flash is really good when it works the few times Ive used it in anger in any great amount, Wedding and fashion show after a few shots about 10 it shuts down due to over heating. Ive seen no one else with this fault so it might be mine only but its really annoying and I have to open the battery compartment and allow a minute or so for cool down.
