Football in 3D

2010 FIFA World Cup™

Sony is the only technology provider truly capable of providing a 3D solution at every stage of the content journey from lens to living room

Sony is proud to have been a key partner in making the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ available in 3D for football fans all over the world, from shooting live footage pitch-side through to delivering great 3D content to the living rooms of fans all over the world. This achievement was recognised at IBC, where four IBC Judges’ Prizes were presented to FIFA, its broadcast partner HBS, sports specialist channel ESPN, and Sony.

Throughout the FIFA World Cup™, Sony Professional covered the competition with 16 of the latest Sony HDC-1500R cameras at every one of the 25 games filmed in 3D. Dedicated stereographers relied upon state-of-the-art MPE-200 processors to deliver the best quality 3D.
